About a month ago I received an email about a chap called Ron Holland who in 2010 plans to smash the motorcycle land speed record at Bonneville Speed Week by travelling in excess of 400mph on his 1,000 brake horsepower V8.

I always like these stories of ordinary folk doing the extraordinary particularly when it involves motorcycles and also when the person is fulfilling a lifelong ambition and is getting on a bit shall we say. (I’m sure Ron won’t mind me saying that)

Anyhow to cut a longish story short we ended up in a workshop in deepest Bedfordshire to have a look at the beast (the bike not Ron).
