Who could have imagined back in the late seventies and early eighties when we wore originals, tatty leather jackets and most men’s hair was as long as the ladies (lovely) and trying to getting admitted into a pub was a bit of a lottery, that in 2008 two bikers would be presenting a cookery show on telly?
The Hairy Bikers are back on our TVs for a fourth series and you can see why their popularity is a high as ever. Last night we were treated to the larger than life Geordie lads, for this series to be known as the Hairy Bakers – showing us how to bake bread in their inimitable style – either adorning Windy Miller-esque outfits in a working windmill in Kirton Lindsey or having fun with an Indian lady whilst buying spices for their Aloo Gobi and Naan Bread. The lads trying to eat said curry whilst being bombarded by midges was hilarious.
The Hairy Bikers’ motorbikes of choice for this outing was the BMW R1200GS but this time with aftermarket accessories that I’ll bet Mr BMW never dreamt of – picnic baskets! The flat twin also came in handy as a warm place to bungee a bowl of rising dough.
