I’ve read that in producing this film Quentin Tarantino was using the Seventies biker film genre as his inspiration and in that respect he succeeded in making a reproduction of how truly awful those films were.
If you believe that at very biker bar there are half-naked and completely naked women cavorting around in mud and just waiting for a biker to turn up and ravage them then all I can say is don’t visit a biker bar as you will be disappointed.
This film did have a (very) loose story but at several points during the film we were asking each other ‘do you have any idea what’s going on yet?’.
Dennis Hopper was about the most watchable in what is a decidely unwatchable film and most disappointing when you consider previous Quentin Tarantino films like Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction, I guess he must have been having an off day when he thought this genre was worth re-creating.
I have to say it was a complete waste of our time watching it and having borrowed a friend’s copy of this DVD I can say that I am glad I did not pay out anything to watch it!
