The Motorcycle Action Group have recently released an excellent video (see below) about what they do to safeguard our biking future.

Included on the video are some facts you may not be aware of:

• MAG stopped the 100bhp power limit by lobbying Brussels and protests by MAG members and their European allies. Without that success there would be no high powered motorcycles on the road today – imagine that.

• MAG campaigned against taxing every motorcycle and box of bits, if you had a V5 you would have had to tax that motorcycle.

• MAG is currently campaigning for changes to the new European Motorcycle Test which seriously threatens the numbers of new riders because of lack of test centres and an unreasonable swerve procedure in the test which are putting novice riders at risk of injury.

You can see MAG General Secretary, Nich Brown, and other representatives from the motorcycle industry putting forward these arguments impressively and articulately in the video of the recent Government Transport Committee hearing.

They are on first so need to watch it all, but the later wriggling of the Transport Minister and the DSA representative under questioning makes enjoyable viewing shall we say.

MAG is run almost entirely on a voluntary basis and as such relies on motorcyclists like you and me becoming members and if possible attending local meetings, supporting their regular rallies and if they want getting more involved in campaigns. Any level of involvement is welcomed.
