Regular readers will have noticed a certain absence of anything on the website as well as any weekly newsletters for a couple of weeks.
There’s a good reason for this – we went to the Isle of Man TT Races
I have to say the TT was fantastic! It’s 16 years since I went and it was still as brilliant as I remembered it. For Pete, well he was the TT Virgin and he enjoyed it so much we have booked for next year!
We’re not a big organisation, here at Motorbikin.com, there’s just the two of us, with a lifelong passion for motorcycliing, and we’re like most other motorcyclists out there – we work the 9 to 5 and we look forward to our holidays. Therefore we took the decision to have a complete break with no updates whilst we were away. We did get offered press passes and I say this not to brag, but to say we could have gone that route and spent what was in essence a holiday hobnobbing at the grandstand, trying to get all the photos of Ian Hutchinson and the guys but frankly the big boys have got the better cameras and a team of writers who do that as part of their job, so you can read the corporate version on their websites or in their publications.
The ITV4 TT coverage was fantastic with an hour a night for ten nights and we recorded it whilst we were away and have been re-living it all since we’ve been back, trying to spot ourselves at the various viewing spots – as y’do! I won’t believe you if you say you don’t!
It is hard to convey to someone who has never been just how good it is, but one concession I did make was that I kept a diary and took lots of photos, which I will be sharing with you over the next couple of weeks and hopefully you can get an idea of what its like for the ordinary motorcycling (wo)man on the street to visit the TT.
I’ve uploaded some pictures to Flickr of the first days’ racing where we watched from The Gooseneck (the riders are just out of Ramsey and are starting the climb up to the mountain)
