Hell Ride – Quentin Tarantino biker movie

August 27th, 2008 · 1 Comment · Motorbike Films

Hell Ride the latest Quentin Tarantino movie gets its inspiration from the B movie biker films of the 60s and 70s and carrying on this theme Tarantino has teamed up with Larry Bishop who is himself a veteran of biker films like The Savage, Chrome and Hot Leather – eh? Never heard of them! Maybe that’s because they were all soooo bad!

Now on release in the United States, apparently we might not even get it here in the UK, except on DVD. I guess that’s because either not enough of us want to go and see it or they think not enough of us want to go and see it.

We’ll wait and see whether it is just as bad as its predecessors. One good thing about it is that the actors all had to ride motorcycles, rather than try and fool us that they’re riding by sitting on a bike on a trailer. Anyway I can’t knock that and apparently Eric Balfour (of 24 fame) even had to learn to ride and then got a bigger motorcycling challenge than most of us have to face ever, namely riding an Indian sidecar outfit, together with foot clutch and throttle on the left.

It is a low budget affair with filming completed in 21 days, which I imagine, is virtually unheard of in Hollywood.

Judging by the trailer, Hell Ride is reminiscent of the days when women didn’t ride motorcycles, hell no, they wore Daisy Duke shorter than short shorts and satisfying their man was their main occupation. No doubt this isn’t the only corny thing about the film.

I for one hope that it is at least better than the last Hollywood offering Wild Hogs which had promise and some real laugh out loud moments but then slipped into the gang fights and stereotyping so typical of these biker films.

If nothing else the Hell Ride Movie Poster looks cool and I might just be tempted to get one of those. Click Here to see the Hell Ride Movie Poster.

Hmmmm! Hell ride looks a bit like a cross between reservoir dogs and ‘Queasy’ rider. oops! meant easy rider.
