ironside_choppers_auction_motorbikeA custom motorcycle that took four men – three brothers Simon Turley and his twin brothers, Andrew and David, and their friend Jem Doward – 100 hours to build, is to be auctioned for a charity that helps people with serious illnesses.

It is a custom chopper motorbike, which they hope will reach £25,000 in an auction for the Richard Burns Foundation.

Richard Burns was a British World Rally Champion who died in 2005 at the age of 34 from a brain tumour. The foundation was set up in 2006 to support people with serious illnesses and injuries.

It incorporates the Michael Park Fund which helps people and their families who have suffered these injuries, particularly in motorsport.

The bike builders, who are all firefighters, trade as Ironside Choppers .

The motorbike’s livery is Burns’ famous blue and yellow Subaru livery and has Richard’s picture on the petrol tank. It will also feature autographs from the world of motorsport as well as Richard’s father, Alex Burns. These will be laquered into the mudguard of the bike.

The bike drew huge crowds at the recent Goodwood Revival and it is expected to be auctioned off early next year. We will bring you more news as we have it.

The foundation plans to get some of Richard’s friends to ride the bike before it goes up for auction at the start of next year.

As if proof were needed that Ironside Choppers are good guys, they intend to continue their support for the Richard Burns foundation by donating ten percent of their future profits from the sale of their custom bikes..
