Classic Bike Clubs Show

stanford_hallAnd the sun shone….hoorah! and not before time.

Th weather was glorious at the 6th Classic Bike Clubs Show and the punters definitely took advantage of the fact with lots of great machinery on display all around the grounds of Stanford Hall.

Unless I’m mistaken the show itself was smaller than in previous years. Hard to know for definite as the show now takes place on the grounds in front of the house whereas in previous years it has always been behind the house, a preferable arrangement in my opinion, but apparently the ogre of health and safety is rumoured to be the cause, something to do with a danger of falling items from the trees, although there were plenty of people parking and standing under the welcome shade of the trees, at the front of the grounds, without worrying whether a rogue branch was going to fall on them.

Anyhow, a pleasant enough few hours were spent meandering around the autojumble and spares stalls, eating ice cream, catching up with Mick from MPC Motorcycles, who did a his world-famous (almost) Ural display in the arena (click here for the video http://motorbikin.com/273/ural-gear-up-stunt-displayural-gear-up-stunt-display/) and generally checking out the assembled motorcycles parked in the grounds.

Motorcycles that caught our eye and which you will find in the photo gallery below were:

  • A gorgeous Grey and Purple Norbsa
  • A cunningly disguised XS650 in a BSA A10 frame and made to look like a BSA in every way
  • A lovely bare-bones and single seat Velocette, which sounded as good as it looks
  • Harley WLA

We also got chatting to a bloke (still riding at 72, though he didn’t look it) with a Triumph Trophy sidecar outfit, with a Hedingham sidecar colour matched to the motorcycle and it looked totally right, in fact so right that back at the homestead talk turned to how our Trident might have another wheel fitted in the future.

There were a lot of Enfields in attendance, including one of the new fuel injection models which is the first one I have seen on the road, as it were.

Within the pictures you will find some of the bikes that were given awards on the day, amongst them an MZ, a Douglas Dragonfly and a Hesketh.

All in all a brilliant day spent riding bikes and talking bikes in the sunshine, does it get any better than that?
