Charley Boorman Trip – Ireland to Australia – By Any Means

· No Comments · Motorbikes on TV

I am really enjoying this new TV programme documenting the trip that Charley did earlier this year.
The first week featured Charley and the team setting out from Charley’s Dad’s house in Ireland on a Triumph bobber that he had built.

Then riding from Coventry Transport Museum via the motorway services on the M40 to the Ace Café, see the video below, which was filmed on that leg of the journey by one of the guys who accompanied them on the run.

Last night we had the second episode and of particular interest to me was the riding of the Ural Gear Up sidecar outfit in Georgia. I have to say aside from a slight diversion to the wrong side of the road (!) Charley handled it really well and he did say it takes a lot of effort but he thinks they are great bikes – good man!

Charley Boorman seems a really nice and fun bloke and he seems to be enjoying the trip immensely which makes it all the more enjoyable to watch. As well as the motorbikes he is certainly choosing an eclectic mix of other transport which if you are anything like me you will be enjoying them just as much as the bikes. I loved the three-wheeled pick up truck that could tip up at the front – what fun!!

I look forward to the rest of the series and no doubt the accompanying book and DVD.
