To celebrate Oxfordshire switching off their speed cameras last week (and with other areas soon to follow), website Breakdowncover.org decided to delve through some publicly accessible information on the use of speed cameras in the UK and put together a [...]

The State of the Nation
July 14th, 2010 · No Comments · Joolz says....
….Well it’s roads anyway, was the subject of a survey carried out by the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) last month.
And no surprise, motorcyclists think the most important thing the new Government should do for motorcyclists is improve road conditions.
At least that’s no surprise to motorcyclists as we constantly bump and jolt our way across the [...]
Triumph and Victory – Motorcycles Of Course
May 21st, 2010 · No Comments · Joolz says....
In todays mutterings I want to praise a Triumph dealer extraordinaire. In my opinion there is nothing worse than going to a dealer, any dealer, and getting downright mediocre or terrible service.
However, several heads do stick above the parapet and one of these is Windy Corner at Barwell in Leicestershire.
This small, but beautifully formed [...]

Anyone Remember Engine?
May 18th, 2010 · 1 Comment · Joolz says....
I’ve just been having a very nostalgic time, thanks to Facebook.
Someone has created a page dedicated to the Birkenhead trio, Engine, that provided the soundtrack to many a boozy rally weekend in the 1980s.
That’s when we were rock ‘ard – anyone remember ridge tents where there was a gap at the bottom? sleeping without airbeds? [...]

World Cup? Or Three Brits on Both Podiums in WSB? – No Contest
April 26th, 2010 · 3 Comments · Joolz says...., Motorcycle Racing
As we plough headlong into another dreary round of the World Cup – is it really four years since the last one? – epitomised by Terry Venables (who apparently has something to do with football) murdering a song on prime time TV, I ask have the team really got a better chance of bringing glory [...]

Does voting matter to you the motorcyclist?
March 5th, 2010 · No Comments · Joolz says....
This week there has been a lot of talk in the press about Gordon Brown being questionned about the motorcycle driving test centre fiasco – how we’ve barely got any now (test centres that is) and how people taking their motorcycle test has dropped dramatically as a result.
The PM saying how important the motorcycle industry [...]

Hi Viz Motorcycle Gear – Is That The Answer?
February 15th, 2010 · 1 Comment · Joolz says....
There has been a bit of a hoohar lately because certain police forces – Sussex, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire – have started offering advice to motorcyclists on how to be better seen and to this end two out of the three of them are handing out hi-viz motorcycle gear.
The justification for handing out this gear is [...]

Ebay Motorcycle Scams – Be Careful out There
February 2nd, 2010 · No Comments · Joolz says....
I always read, or watch stories on the TV, with disbelief that people are still getting scammed on eBay.
I’ve come to the conclusion that whatever it is the person concerned is buying is such a bargain that they take their brain out in the interest of securing this bargain.
There is a programme on TV at [...]
Festive Motorcycle Highlights
January 4th, 2010 · No Comments · Joolz says....
You may have noticed, dear reader, a certain lack of news or content of any description over the festive period.
This was wholly intentional on my part as a recharging of batteries was required and to come back in 2010 ready for more motorcycling reporting.
You may enjoy my festive highlights (and lowlights)
Drank lots of Guinness and [...]

The Biker Wave – You Do Don’t You?
December 23rd, 2009 · 5 Comments · Joolz says....
A while back I remember reading in a national motorcycle publication that one of the subjects that they get the most letters about is whether bikers wave to each other…or not.
In my experience most do, but there is no rule of thumb. We get less waves when out on the Harley, we get more [...]
