Are you planning a trip that takes you through mainland Europe this summer?
If so you might like to check out a new website – www.mobikehotel.com
As much as I like to think of myself as someone who would quite happily wing it and find somewhere to stay after we are done riding for the day, in reality, I’m a bit of wimp and like to know where I’ll be laying my head at night.
We’ve travelled a lot both around the UK and Europe not knowing where we will be staying from one night to the next and instead waiting until we have gone far enough for the day and then start the slog for somewhere to stay. This generally involves taking what we are given, glad for somewhere, anywhere, that will put up with a couple of road grubby motorcyclists.
However, in those circumstances, your pride and joy might not be as secure as you might like and the facilities could be somewhat basic with you then having to walk some distance to find food and drink.
These days, I’m glad to say, the world is becoming a much more biker friendly place and various websites and online forums are popping up all over the place to satisfy the needs of travelling motorcyclists – hoorah!
That brings me neatly back to www.mobikehotel.com.
At the moment you can discover on their website bike friendly hotels in France,Belgium,Spain, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy. There’s even one in Sardinia which is definitely on my list of places to visit. Hoorah again.
As well as a picture of the hotel and a map showing where it is, the site also uses certain symbols to denote for example hotels with secure garages/parking for motorcycles, bar, restaurant, tools available and even motorbike washing facilities, plus many more.
For each hotel there are also GPS coordinates if you find your map reading skills are not what they were.
The website encourages feedback from motorcyclists using the hotels on their website and as always this is the best recommendation you can hope for when making a choice about where to stay.
Although the website seems fairly young at the moment it certainly looks promising and one to keep in mind when planning that trip across Europe.
Good helpful advice, try these 2 sites as well.
http://www.beds4bikers.com and http://www.campsites4bikers.com
These sites cover the UK and most of Europe.
Hope they help.
Thanks Victor for the recommendations and links
