Biker Friendly Great Pub In The Heart Of Warwickshire

· No Comments · biker friendly

cottage_of_content_pubLast Sunday we decided to take advantage of the solitary dry day in the last couple of weeks and take Boris (our Ural sidecar outfit)out on a run.

When we went to the Cassington Bike Night on it recently, we realised it had a leaking pushrod tube that kindly blew oil all over the place – hurroo! So a new gasket set was duly purchased and fitted.

As we are off on holiday on it soon we wanted to give it a reasonable run to ensure that the oil leak was fixed and that there were no other problems that needed attention, so forth.

So it was rather timely, dear reader, that in the middle of last week the latest edition of the Royal Enfield Owners Club magazine dropped on the doormat. Timely because, whilst perusing the same I notice that there is a rally planned during October – you do ride your bike in October don’t you? – at the Cottage of Content pub in Barton on Avon, Warwickshire, not a million miles away from Stratford On Avon, which indeed is only thirty miles bimble for us.

A quick Google of the pub revealed it’s precise location and off we set.

We enjoyed a pleasant meander through the A and B roads of Warwickshire, waving as we went to those who stare in amazement/laugh/wave when they see us around abouts. You can’t be shy with a Boris!

The Cottage of Content is a bit of a find I have to say. Nestled in the backwater of Barton on Avon and it has an old world charm, friendly locals, good beer and an extensive and reasonably priced menu. We also noticed that happy hour Monday to Saturday is 3-6pm when beer is £2 per pint. In addition Monday to Saturday they have set main meals for £5 – different meals each night ranging from Curry to Chilli to Steak.

Does it get any better?

Well, yes it does actually. Remember I mentioned the rally being held at the pub in October?

Well that’s because the pub also has a camping area at the rear.

The pub is obviously also Biker Friendly.

We partook in the food and drink, as you do, and can recommend both.

Many a conversation followed, started as always by Boris, well not him himself you understand, but rather the conversation that seeing the unusual beast usually provokes. Yes a pleasant afternoon indeed.

If you feel so inclined, we did, you can stop en route in Stratford on Avon.

You are guaranteed a large gathering of motorcycle folk on a sunny weekend, all willing to talk motorcycle, as you do. We watched the narrowboats on the River Avon and enjoyed an ice cream in the sun before bimbling homeward bound.

So, we recommend The Cottage of Content Pub next time your wheels are pointed that way.
